אני ממש אוהבת את חשבון האינסטגרם שלכם, איך ומתי הכרתם?
קתרינה: הכרנו לגמרי במקרה בניו יורק בתור לסלט לפני כשלוש שנים. ינון היה בתור מאחורי והתחיל לפטפט איתי, בהתחלה לא רציתי שיטרידו אותי אבל הוא היה מקסים ומתוק ובסופו של דבר הייתה לנו אחלה שיחה. ואז פתאום הוא אמר: "ביי, היה נעים לפגוש אותך" ואני זוכרת שחשבתי, טוב חבל אבל זה לא שאני אכיר את אהבת חיי בתור לסלט... מסתבר שטעיתי 🙂

Hi guys, I just love your account 🙂
How, when and where did you meet? 
Katerina: We met completely by chance in New York in line for a salad about 3 years ago. Yinon was in line right behind me and started chatting with me. I didn’t really want to be bothered at first but he was cute and charming and we ended up having a nice chat. Then he abruptly said “bye, nice to meet you”... I remember thinking well, too bad, but it’s not like I’d meet the love of my life in line for a salad anyway!! Guess I was wrong, ha!

זאת הייתה אהבה ממבט ראשון?
ינון: היה לנו חיבור מיידי ודיברנו במשך 20 הדקות שהיינו בתור אבל משום מה עזבתי את המקום בלי לבקש ממנה את המספר. רק כשיצאתי החוצה עצרתי וחיכיתי שקתרינה תצא, חייכתי אליה וליוויתי אותה לעבודה. כבר בדייט השני שלנו ידעתי שהיא יכולה להיות האחת. לקתרינה לקח עוד שבוע בערך חחח.

Was it love at first sight?
Yinon: We had an immediate connection and spoke for the 20 minutes we had in line but for some reason I left the place without asking for her number. Only when I got outside I stopped myself and waited for Katerina to come out, I smiled at her, and walked her to work. I knew as fast as our second date that she could be the one. It took Katerina another week or so lol.

לא קל להחליט לעזוב את הבית ולעבור למדינה אחרת...
קתרינה: עזבתי את הבית שלי בבולגריה כדי ללמוד בהרווארד כשהייתי בת 19 וינון עבר לניו יורק מתל אביב בגיל 29. כנראה שתמיד חלמנו בגדול ורצינו לראות עולם ולחוות סגנונות חיים שונים. כשהחלטנו לעזוב את ניו יורק כדי לטייל בעולם היינו מוכנים לזה נפשית.

It’s not easy to decide to leave your home and move to another country...
Katerina: I left my home in Bulgaria to study at Harvard when I was 19 and Yinon relocated to NYC from Tel Aviv at 29. I think we’ve always been big dreamers and wanted to see the world and experience other lifestyles. So by the time we decided to leave NYC to travel full time we were very much ready for it.

מתי ואיך החלטתם להתחיל לטייל בעולם?
ינון: שנינו טיילנו לא מעט במהלך החיים... קתרינה התחילה לטייל לעיתים קרובות כתחביב במקביל לעבודה ולנוכחות באינסטגרם ואני טסתי הרבה במסגרת העבודה. בערך  שנה אחרי שהכרנו התחילו להגיע כל מיני הזדמנויות להפוך את המדיה הדיגיטלית שלנו לעסק וגם הגענו למסקנה שיש עוד כל כך הרבה מקומות בעולם שאנחנו רוצים לראות ובחיים לא נגיע אליהם אם נמשיך לעבוד במשרה מלאה, בייחוד כי אנחנו רוצים להתחיל להקים משפחה בשנה הבאה- אז הכרזנו על שנה שלמה שבה נחקור את העולם (התחלנו במרץ) כדי ללכת בעקבות התשוקה שלנו וכדי שנוכל להתחיל לבנות משפחה כשאנחנו יודעים שהגשמנו את החלום הזה.

When did you decide to start traveling and how?
Yinon: We both traveled quite a lot in our life. Katerina started traveling frequently as a hobby while having a full time job and building an Instagram presence and I traveled a lot for my work. About a year after we met we started to see a lot of opportunity in starting our own social media business. We also realized there are so many places around the world we wanted to visit that we would never have the time if we kept our full time jobs, especially since we want to start a family next year. So we decided to take a full year of full-time travel (which started in March of this year) to follow our passion and to get it out of our system before we start having children 🙂

מה הכי כיף באורח חיים כזה?
ינון: שנינו סקרנים מאוד, ללמוד על מקום חדש והמקומיים ובו זמנית לפגוש עוד מטיילים זה כיף אמיתי! לפעמים זה גם משוגע, להתעורר במקום שונה בכל כמה ימים לראות כל כך הרבה תרבויות וסגנונות חיים בפרק זמן קצר- הקונטרסטיות יכולה ממש לפקוח עיניים. אופי העיסוק שלנו לוקח אותנו למקומות שונים- בוקר אחד אנחנו באזור כפרי בוויטנאם שבו נראה שהזמן עצר מלכת לפני 50 שנה ולמחרת אנחנו במלון חמישה כוכבים הכי אקסקלוסיבי בקוסמוי עם וילה פרטית ובריכה שמשקיפה לאוקיינוס. בסופו של דבר, לחלוק את החוויות האלו יחד הופך את הכל לבלתי נשכח.

What’s the most fun thing about it?
Yinon: We are two really curious people, learning about a place and the people there while meeting other travelers is so much fun! It can also be really crazy at times, waking up in different places every few days, seeing so many different cultures and lifestyles within short time frames, the contrast can be really eye-opening sometimes. Just the nature of our business takes us to so many different places - one day we’re in a rural part of Vietnam where time seems to have stopped 50 years ago, and the next day we’re at the most exclusive 5-star hotels in Koh Samui in a private villa with a pool overlooking the ocean. In the end it’s just sharing these experiences together that make it unforgettable.

מה הכי קשה?
קתרינה: אני ממש מתגעגעת לארון שלי! שיהיה לי מקום להניח בו את החפצים, בסיס ושגרה- זה הדבר הכי קשה לנו עכשיו. לטייל עם מזוודה יכול להיות גם מתיש אבל גם מזכיר לך כמה מעט בעצם אתה צריך כדי לחיות. אנחנו בקושי זוכרים איך נראים הבגדים והחפצים ששמנו באכסון.

And what’s the hardest?
Katerina: I really miss having a closet! Having a place to put our things down, having a base and a routine - that’s the hardest for us right now. Traveling out of a suitcase can get pretty exhausting. But at the same time it’s nice because it makes you realize how little you actually need to live with. We can barely even remember what are all the clothes and things we’ve put in storage!

איך המשפחות הגיבו להחלטה שלכם?
קתרינה: רוב המשפחה הייתה לגמרי בעד כי הם מבינים מה אנחנו עושים וכמה זה חשוב לעסק שלנו וגם לשחרר את זה מהראש שלנו לפני הקמת המשפחה. אבל חלק עדיין לא מבינים ושואלים אותנו איפה נגור ומתי נתמקם איפשהו.

What was the response of your families?
Katerina: most of them were fully on board as they understand what we are doing and the importance of our travels to our business and for us to “get it out of our systems” before we start a family. But some don’t really get it and keep asking us where we’re going to live and when we’ll stop traveling.

מה שואלים אתכם הכי הרבה?
ינון: רוב האנשים לא מבינים איך אנחנו יכולים להרשות את זה לעצמינו. זאת שאלה מובנת, לתמוך בעצמינו בזמן נסיעות זה עדיין קונספט חדשני. אנחנו גם מקבלים הרבה שאלות פרטיות על מערכת היחסים שלנו.

Which questions do you get the most?
Yinon: Most people don’t understand how we can afford it. Which we understand, supporting yourselves while traveling is still a pretty new concept. We also get asked a lot of personal things about our relationship.

איזה מקומות הכי אהובים עליכם בעולם?
ביקרנו בטולום 4 פעמים יחד ובנפרד ואנחנו מתים על המקום. יש שם וויב ייחודי ואווירה שקשה לתאר במילים. שנינו גם לגמרי מאוהבים בתל אביב וקתרינה אומרת שזה פשוט  לא הגיוני שיש הכל בעיר אחת: אוכל מעולה, מזג אוויר מושלם, החופים, עבודות טובות, בריאות ועוד.

What are your favorite places all over the world?
We both visited Tulum 4 times together and separately and we absolutely love it. It has such a unique vibe and atmosphere that is almost hard to describe. We are both also in love with Tel Aviv which Katerina describes as a cheat because you get to enjoy everything in one place - amazing food, great weather, the beach, well paying jobs, healthcare and more.

קתרינה מה את חושבת על ישראל?
אני מאוהבת בישראל! היא אפילו לא הייתי ברדאר שלי למקומות שאני רוצה לבקר בהם לפני שהכרתי את ינון, למרות שטיילתי המון. אבל מהרגע שביקרתי בה- התאהבתי. האוכל, מזג האוויר, האנשים, תל אביב!! אני ממש מבולבלת למה שאר העולם לא מדבר יותר על ישראל,  אבל אנחנו מנסים לשנות את זה 🙂

Katerina what do you think about Israel?
I’m in love with Israel!! It wasn’t even on my radar of places I wanted to visit before I met Yinon, even though I traveled a lot. But once I visited I fell in love. The food, the weather, the people, TEL AVIV!! I’m really confused as to why the rest of the world isn’t talking more about Israel to be honest. But we are trying to change that 🙂

מי מצלם את התמונות הזוגיות שלכם?
ינון: אנחנו אוהבים לטייל עם חברים ומשפחה ואז הם מצלמים אותנו אבל ברוב הזמן אנחנו אנחנו משתמשים בחצובה.

Who takes your couple pictures?
Yinon: we love traveling with friends and family and then they take our photos but most of the time we use Trippy our tripod.

איזו תמונה הכי אהובה עליכם?
קתרינה: צילמנו את התמונה הזאת באגם קומו באחד המלונות שעבדנו איתם. זה לא המלון הכי מושלם שהיינו בו אבל עם הנוף הכי טוב לחלוטין.

Witch photo is your favorite?
Katerina: we took this picture in Lake Como at one of the hotels we worked with. It’s not the fanciest hotel we’ve been to but has the best view for sure.

שיתופי פעולה באינסטגרם זאת העבודה העיקרית שלכם? ואיך זה עבד בהתחלה כשהיו לכם פחות עוקבים?
קתרינה: שיתופי פעולה באינסטגרם הם נהדרים אבל זאת לא ההכנסה העיקרית שלנו. רוב ההכנסה היא מכירת המוצר הייחודי שלנו- פילטרים לתמונות (ידועים גם כפריסטס) שנותנים לכל מי שרוכש את הפילטרים את היכולת לעריכת תמונות זהה לשלנו. אנחנו גם מרוויחים מהבלוג  שלנו בשיטת האפיליאייט ובימים אלו אנחנו גם בונים אפליקציה שאנחנו מקווים שאנשים יתלהבו ממנה.

בהתחלה הייתה לי עבודה במשרה מלאה, ממנה חסכתי כדי לממן את הטיולים, ברגע שהתחלתי לצבור עוקבים ובניתי את הבלוג- כבר הייתה לי הכנסה קבועה מהנכסים האלו.

Is instagram collaborations your main job? And how did you do it in the beginning before you had a lot of followers?
Katerina: Instagram collaborations are great but it’s not our main income. We make most of our income from selling our own product which is our photo filters (also known as presets) that allow anyone to have our exact editing. We also make money from our blog with affiliate links. And these days we are also building a new app that we hope will get people excited.

In the beginning I had a full time job that supported me and I was able to save from my salary for my travels. Once I started to gain more and more followers I also built our blog and started setting it up for a solid income stream.

איזה עוד יעדים נמצאים ברשימה שלכם?
ינון: אנחנו מחכים כבר לטוס להודו. אף פעם לא טיילנו שם, למרות שביקרתי בעבר במסגרת העבודה. הצבעים ועושר התרבות ההודית מרתקים אותנו ואנחנו כבר לא יכולים לחכות. גם רוצים להגיע בעתיד לפולינזיה הצרפתית.

Where would you like to travel next? What’s on your bucket list?
Yinon: we can’t wait to go to India. This is a place that we never traveled although I visited for work before. The colors and richness of Indian culture just seem so incredible we can’t wait to visit soon. We also always wanted to go to French Polynesia.

מה קורה אם אתה רבים? אתה מצטלמים כרגיל או לוקחים הפסקה?
ינון: אנחנו אף פעם לא נותנים לריבים שלנו להימשך יותר מדי. לדעתנו ככל שמושכים את זה כך הריב הולך וגדל. אנחנו פרטנרים לחיים ולעסק ולשנינו יש את אותה מטרה: לקיים מערכת יחסים אוהבת ומצליחה אז שנינו עובדים בכיוון הזה.

אבל, התמונות שלנו בנויות על רגש ואנרגיה אז אנחנו לא יכולים לצלם כשאנחנו במצב אנרגטי ירוד. תמיד ניקח את הזמן ללבן את העניינים- זה הכי חשוב לנו.

What happens when you have a fight? Do you take photos as usual or do you take a break?
Yinon: we have this thing that we don’t let our fights go for too long. We think that the longer you take to talk about it or hug it through, it becomes bigger and bigger. We are business and life partners and we know that we have the same goal to have a happy, loving, and successful relationship so we both work towards that.

But our photos are all about energy and emotion so we can’t shoot when we are not in a happy mental state. We always take the time to work through things as that’s the most important thing for us.

בדר"כ כמה טייקים אתם עושים עד לפריים המושלם?
ינון: עם החצובה באזור ה-200 תמונות כי אנחנו מכוונים על אוטומט אז היא מצלמת המון ורובן לא טובות. כשמישהו מצלם אותנו, בדרך כלל זה 20 תמונות עד לתוצאה שאנחנו רוצים.

Usually, how many takes do you do for every photo session?
Yinon: with the tripod probably about 200 because we set it on interval timer so it takes a lot of automatic shots of us and most of them are not good. When we have someone taking our photos it would be about 20 shots to get what we want.

לסיום, מה העצה שלכם לזוגות שרוצים להתחיל לטייל ולצלם יחד?
לזכור שאם אתם רוצים להפוך את העניין לעסק, זה לוקח זמן. משהו כמו שנתיים שלוש, אז תתחילו להתאמן לעבר המטרה ואם באמת תרצו ותתמידו- תוכלו לגרום לזה לקרות. לרוב האנשים אין את ההתמדה לא להתייאש...לפעמים יהיה לכם קשה וכאן ההקשבה משחקת תפקיד חשוב, אם אתם יודעים איך להקל על הפרטנר שלכם, תיווצר סנרגיה נפלאה.

What is your advice for couples that want to start traveling together?
Just remember that if you want to make a business out of it, it will take time. It takes about 2-3 years really. So just start practicing and keep working towards it - if you really want it you’ll make it happen. Not many people have the persistence to not give up and keep working towards it and that’s where most fail. It will be hard at times and that’s where listening comes in handy - if you know how you can make it easier for your partner, it will create an amazing synergy.
